Rice Cereal
Trip to the Redwoods
Sonia went on her first long road trip May 9-13th through the redwoods to the California coast. We traveled with two other couples and Sonia was a model baby. She loved being held by everyone and enjoyed the new surroundings. She was no trouble at all. It was so fun to have her with us. We were there over Mother's Day and on that day, I took her in a swimming pool for the first time. After adjusting to the water being cooler than she's used to in the bath, she absolutely LOVED it (as you can see from the pictures below). We took her to the ocean and she didn't even mind when I changed her diaper on the hood of the car at a gas station. What a kid! We are really enjoying having her with us and feel so blessed that we've been able to get to know this wonderful soul that God has given us the privilege of caring for.

Three Weeks Later
It's been three weeks since my last entry, which is WAY too long as Sonia is growing so fast and there's so much happening...hmm...maybe that's why I don't update my blog all that often... Anyway, Sonia's getting a lot more coordinated at grabbing things and putting them up to her mouth. She went through a period last week where all she did was blow bubbles out of her mouth....and the week before that it was a contstant flow of sound as she discovered that she could make happy/laughing sounds at will. Her eyes squint shut when she smiles...much like my husband's sister, Donna's eyes do. Her Grandma Hillary babysits her about once a week as a treat so that Don and I can get out and do our own thing. She even calls to THANK us for letting her babysit...that's a grandma for you. Sonia's now grown out of her first pair of jeans, but I told her to get used to growing out of jeans. She's a girl and she might as well get used to that. But I digress. We bought her an activity center about 3 weeks ago, and it has been a wonderful thing to help me in watching her at home. She's into her swing and a children's CD by Colin Raye that Aunt Kerry brought over. I'm schooling her on the names of her relatives on my side of the family by showing her pictures and saying their names so that she's ready when we meet up with them later this summer.
The following are some of the best pictures in the last three weeks:
